I feel like I need more food on the blog, which has been all running and music lately, so I’ll take advantage of Friday Five’s free day to share some food! So here are five random things I’ve eaten in 2016 that have made me happy!!!!

  1. Crystal ’n Coke Wings from the Skillet
I don’t eat chicken very often. It causes me pain. I don’t really like it. I like plants. I don’t like to eat things with bones. But my pug Le Mops woke up this morning in January paralyzed. I was depressed and needed late night food. I asked the waiter what he would eat and he said the wings. First off the chicken fell of the wings it was so tender, which meant I didn’t really have to deal with the bones. Second off, it really was like crack. This was a huge plate of wings, but I only ate a few as my main dish was a Kale Caesar Salad.image
  2. Black Truffles
This is a twofer yum entry: we used our truffles from Les Pastras on some amazing dishes….This is a white pizza and some spinach pasta with a lemon leek truffle sauce (and I made a hidden Mickey). Nothing fancy, just delicious. When you have fresh black truffles, very little is needed to highlight the main ingredient.
  3. Bay Cities Sandwich
There is nothing I crave more than Bay Cities in Santa Monica. Nothing. On the way to Star Wars in January, I purposely flew into LAX just to make a detour to get this sandwich. In case you’re wondering, this is a Muenster Cheese with Hots sandwich. That’s it. Simple and delicious, and I need to get to LA now!!! There is nothing this good in Seattle, not even close.

4. Edible Orlando Field to Feast
I should really write a whole post on this event I went to the night before Princess Half Marathon. A couple of favorites: Corn Milk Custard from Artist Point and the Steak and Eggs from Special Events. The stations were staffed by WDW chefs, and each dish was paired with a great wine. This was a fundraiser that just happened to fall on my runDisney weekend, although I would probably plan a trip around this if I could.

5. Beef Shanks in the Pressure Cooker
We don’t eat a ton of meat at home, but when we do, it’s no joke. These are Beef Shanks from a butcher in Bellevue, along with some Chorizo. I threw it all in the pressure cooker for 25 minutes and created a delicious, tender, mouthwatering dinner on a Tuesday night. Yeah, this was a weeknight after Artboy got home from work dinner. I do love my Instant Pot.
