Mellow will make me a fancy chef…
I was surfing around the internet, mindlessly being mindless, when the latest #sponsored campaign bombarded me with Sous Vide happiness and I clicked a link. I am not getting paid for telling you about this, nor am I getting a free product from the company; I am not #sponsored, but I am having dreams of being the next Thomas Keller. A while back I bought Artboy a book full of fancy food photos disguised as a cookbook: Under Pressure: Cooking Sous Vide and ever since I have dreamed of cooking everything like I work at the French Laundry. And the Mellow promises me that I can sort of do that, no vacuum sealer required. (This link is my referral link)
Training while Traveling
We’re halfway through Summer vacation and it’s time to get out of town if you haven’t already. But depending on your race schedule, you are probably somewhere in the midst of training for a late Summer or Fall race, and traveling and running don’t always mix. But that family vacation or dream trip to Paris doesn’t have to kill your hopes of a PR.
Epcot Food & Wine Reservations and Tequila
It’s my least favorite time of the year, when reservations open for Epcot Food & Wine Festival in November. Today was the pre-sale for Chase Disney Visa Cardholders and regular booking opens later this week. I managed to score reservations for the new Japanese Craft Beer Tasting and our old standby the Mexican Tequila Lunch, which we have not missed since they started.
What the What
After the last WordPress update, I could no longer log in to my page…the admin and login page both returned the dreaded White Screen of Death! Alas, not a single one of the 226 articles with solutions worked. I had to reinstall wordpress on a different subdomain, export/import the sql database data, and then go through and fix all the broken stuff manually. It’s working.
Meat (full) Runnning
For the past few years, I have chosen a plant-based training diet. It worked. I felt strong and motivated. It just worked. My few forays into accidental meat eating pre-race sent me running to the bathrooms instead of a PR. This year has been different, more of an as much meat as I can stand diet!
Cough, Cough
That is all. I am still coughing.
Seattle Marathon 10k: Come join me!
Falling on August 22 this year, the Seattle Marathon 10k is a great build up for Seattle Half or Full marathon training. It’s an fast course with great use of the park! (more…)
Eat Run Hope
Last year, I decided to run a last minute 5k so I could eat! No surprise there. And while I expected the food to be amazing in the Ethan Stowell hosted event, I didn’t expect the 5k to be so organized, as most 5ks I run don’t have chip timers nor even a real finish line, and those don’t have food fests that follow! Plus, the Fetal Health Foundation is a truly worthy cause to support. With Eat Run Hope, I stumbled upon a great 5k all on its own with the bonus of an amazing food (and drink) fest. This year, you should join Team Pugnacious for this great event and cause.
Seattle Rock n Roll Marathon
Last Saturday was the Seattle Rock n Roll Marathon. I’m not sure whose idea it was to run a full marathon so early in the season, but we did it! And despite a horrible cough, lackluster training, and general unpreparedness, the marathon wasn’t so bad. We oddly met my original goal of being on my feet for 6 and 1/2 hours without even trying.
